The importance of Keeping it Simple:
“Life, business and leadership should be a simple thing however, it is often complicated by idiots.” That was my opening line at the TEDxBCIT talk I did on the weekend.
Everyday, our lives are becoming more complicated. Crazier. And at times, all consuming. It’s time for us to slow down and… smell the coffee so to speak. The energy we should be devoting to our families and to our own brilliance is being sucked out of us by the chaos in the world around us.
The insanity can stop with you simply saying enough. Saying “Yes” to what really matters and, saying “No” to everything that is not going to get you to your goals and takes unnecessary time away from the people you love and the things that you really love to do.
Ask yourself; “What does good look like for me right now?” Focus only on that.
The top athletes in the world focus on their greatness. The best footballers focus on being the best footballers. They do not try to be the best tennis players too.
Living by the mantra of keeping it simple – focused and deliberate – will actually bring you greater success, more love, more passion, more energy and greater satisfaction.
Let the idiots in your circle keep things complicated without involving you.
