As leaders we are finely tuned world-class athletes of a different kind. We may not make our living off of our bodies, however our brains (the real sources of our individual incomes) are incredibly brilliant machines that need to be cared for like any professional athletes would care for their bodies.
To operate at our peak, we need to:
But you know all of that. Here’s the one thing that is not talked about as much. Once a week, we need to cheat on our diets. We need give in to the cravings we have for pizza, chocolate, etc. We don’t want to be doing this everyday – all day, just once a week.
It is good for us for do this for two key reasons: it helps us psychologically from feeling deprived and it actually helps speed up our metabolism which burns more fat! (Weird but true)
I cheated yesterday by enjoying a warm brown-butter brownie with vanilla ice cream and a great glass of red wine. Yum!
Today though… back on the program!
