Millennials actually understand Bitcoin, Artificial Intelligence and how to maximize the power of social media. They are the largest demographic group in history, and they have little-preconceived paradigms about age, race, gender, and religion. Yet they are a huge untapped resource in business today.
The millennial – or Generation Y – cohort group is Generation Z. This group is just coming on line in the workplace now and they are the most entrepreneurial demographic in history. Yet they too are relatively untapped as a resource for organizations that are looking to be more agile in changing markets.
Our world is moving faster than ever before. And it will be different again tomorrow than today. We have to keep changing to keep up.
Organizations that were once leaders in their field like Kodak, Nokia (which interesting enough once changed from Forestry to Tech but couldn’t change again), Xerox, Blockbuster and Yahoo, to name a few – may they rest in peace – failed to take advantage of the people that are shaping the world we live in.
I love the way the millennial generation is reshaping everything that previous generations almost destroyed. One of the biggest examples I have witnessed is the transformation of the country of Romania that was almost destroyed by despot communist leadership and the subsequent corrupt governments of the last 30 years. The millennials of Romania do not tolerate the leaders that lie and take advantage of their people. As a result, the country and main city Bucharest, are becoming shining beacons of freedom and growth.
How are you taking advantage of the Millennial Advantage? We can keep our heads in the sand and become the next Polaroid or we can open our minds to the potential that the next wave of talent brings.
