How to Set Personal Goals for Success in 2018

There is a special club where members all share the same thing. The club is very exclusive. In fact, only 3% of the world’s total population belong to this club. The members of this club are the only ones from the world’s total population that do something very different and separate from everyone else on the planet. Interestingly enough, the members of this club also have more combined wealth than the rest of the world’s 97%.

What is it that separates this 3% group from everyone else? Simple. They have a plan. They set for themselves, and execute, with tenacious discipline a set of personal goals.

I find it outrageous that having a simple plan with personal goals is all that separates the 3% group from everyone else. But it’s true, and I see it time and time again.

So, how can YOU join the 3% Club? How can YOU build a plan with personal goals? Keep it simple. Most people fail at setting personal goals because they try to ‘boil the ocean.’ If your plan is too big and too aggressive you will probably get nothing done.

Here are the 3 things to do when you set your own personal goals:

1. Create an awareness of your current situation. For example, if you want to improve your financial position, you need to know what your current financial position is. Do a deep dive into where you are right now. I find it so crazy that when I tell people this example, I always discover that more often than not, people have absolutely no idea what they spend money on and even less of an idea on what they want!
2. Think 3. Set your sights on three things that you want to accomplish. There is no limit to all the things that you could potentially do and add to your plan. Keep it to three and only three.
3. Discipline. Discipline is the BIG difference. The 97% do not have the discipline to stick to the plan. They want to sleep in. They want to have lunch with their friends. They want to sit on the sofa in the evening and watch TV. They do not want to do the tough things that are required.

That’s it. Ready to get started on changing your life and joining the 3%? Get out a blank piece of paper and get on with it. All you have to lose is your success.
